Green Frog - As with several species within the genus Lithobates (formerly Rana), the sex of the green frog can be determined by the size of the tympanum (ear drum) in relationship to the eye. In male frogs the tympanum is larger than the eye.

The temperatures in my area are just starting to warm-up. The reptiles are still pretty cool and slow.
There's a trick to photographing ribbon snakes. During early spring if you scare them off a basking area, they usually return to the exact same spot within 10-15 minutes. I've only observed this behavior in the early spring.

Cool finds. I've been finding a few snakes here in VA but mostly early risers such as garter snakes and racers... but we did find a small black ratsnake yesterday afternoon!
Awesome Marbled Salamander too, all I can find are redbacks and spotties.
