Northern VA Herpin' in March
With the first rain after the winter thaw last week my buddy Ryan and I went cruising the roads in Haymarket, VA to look for spotted salamanders.

Along with about 9 thousand toads and numerous spring peepers and other various treefrogs, we found a few salamanders coming out to breed!



Thanks for looking and good luck to you fellow field herpers! In a few weeks I'll start posting pictures of the snakes I find, as I've been scouting spots all winter and think i found a few promising locations

Awesome Mike! I found Northern Rings, 5 lined skins and salamanders this weekend!
