South Texas in December..
Ok friends.. it was cloudy and breezy but not really too cool this morning to see an Indigo snake. So I went out for a look see.
.
I checked out a hole where I had seen a large shed skin this time last year and guess what? .. I found another! .. must be a large animal, judging from the width of the ventral scutes.
.
.
A little later I noticed something suspicious out in the weeds.. can you spot it?

.. a closer look.
.
.
.. that turned out to be a mature female Indigo snake.. I most always try to get a record of the face and labials..
.
.
.. I also saw this guy.. and I agree with him!

Yes that is Harris' hawk.

A family of them ranges near one of my regular walking routes and they have become quite accustomed to me.
