It's a long time till summer but never too early to plan....anyone in the Southeast within a half days drive from Atlanta with any good snake hunting land with some interesting species? I have a few places around here that I enjoy flippin rocks and stumps....but want to intrude on other people's happy hunting grounds as well If I drive 6 hours and catch a ringneck snake....I'm gonna be mean and probably throw a tantrum or something though...so make sure please and point us towards some pretty kings or ratsnakes or something. also anyone interested in joining me on hunts around here this spring/summer....bring your old shoes and plenty of Off.

I'm ignorant of any good hunting grounds around here, but I know there must be some. I see at least one snake almost every time I go golfing, so now that I got a hook from yah, I'll be carrying that in my bag along with a pillowcase.
I think herping would be a trip, but I dunno if I could convince the wife of it! [addsig]

Maybe we can meet in the middle and find a place....I'm 4 hours away....2 hours each and we can just pick a good spot and go....what do you think??? I don't got a hook though...but it's not like I'm going after hots anyways.....I see all kinds of black, yellow, green rat snakes as well as cotton mouths, copperheads, and some green arborial snake. Feels like rubber. I even got a place you can crash....I catch them around the ponds here on base....there's also a serpetarium about 45min away and they catch all kinds of crap locally....It's in Edisto Beach, SC....[addsig]

Sounds like a plan to me! We'll get all organized with the respective parties and set a date. I want a ratsnake or 2. [addsig]

sorry joltman. If you want to fly in your more than welcome....I see all kinds of green and yellow and black rat snakes all the time....one time I mistaken a baby cottonmouth for something else until it did in fact open it's mouth and gave me a second thought and I had to take a closer look....could've been painful!!!![addsig]

If your lookin to catch copperheads or rattlesnakes and compare regionous colors first hand stop by my house. I can take you to some rock formations on my little mountain here. If you bring dirtbikes we will have even more fun because we could ride trails from spot to spot instead of walking from the road that goes over the mountain.
Either way, I'd go with you'all! I wouldn't be taking any home. This would be a photography trip for me. You guys or gals hold'em and pose'em.

I saw on Discovery the other night that if a rattler can keep it's head away from the kings head for long enough, it won't get eaten, the king loses interest. And they don't rattle at kingsnakes, seems they know the king is immune to the venom[addsig]
