Herping in Kentucky!
Yesterday, my darling wife LdyDrgn and my friend Jeosbo001 went to one of our favorite places to find herps. We didn't find a great quantity of reptiles, but we did find great quality.
Cave Salamander:
Black racer (in situ as found under artifical cover):
Timber Rattle Snake (in situ as found under artifical cover):
The Timber and the Racer were found under the same piece of tin but about 5 hours apart.
Thanks for looking!

Re: Herping in Kentucky!
Duuuuude I would loooove to see a timber rattlesnake to take pics of. I have yet to find one up here in WV, only my brother has been lucky enough to see one at a local state forest.

The very same. This was the first time it has been productive for us.

They are not endangered, nor are they even considered threatened, but I kind of wish they were. I doubt if it would slow the average resident down much from going out of their way to kill them, but it might make a few of them think twice.
In my personal experience (Tokaysrnice can attest to this), education is the key to creating a sense of conservation in the land owners. When you can get the owners to really grasp just how amazing of a natural resource these snakes are, it helps their chances of survival more than any law could.
