geckokid,
My uncle owns a large amount of property there that he is turning into lots for sale. My father is moving down there in a short bit. He is actually, as we speak, in the process of selling all his "wordly possessions" and getting ready to leave. Here is what I know:
1. Driving there is next to impossible. It is a VERY long drive, through some third world countries...you wouldn't want to break down on the way there.
2. Airfare is very expensive, except during occasional cheap fares. You have to watch for them.
3. The rainy season is June through September.
4. Lots of herps!! especially Iggy's...they pretty much walk the streets there.
5. You cannot take anything back with you legally. Customs are tight, and duty tax for other things are outrageous.
6. As far as the herping laws, I don't know yet, but I will find out soon. I plan on going there myself this year sometime, so I was already planning on looking into this stuff.
