How soon should we start planning the next one? If we're gonna do any night cruising, we ought to plan away from a full moon. I wouldnt mind if we could work it out to be out in the middle of nowhere during one of the annual meteor showers either...
Clearly it's a while before herping season starts again, but if you're interested, post, so that as we get closer, it'll be easier to decide where and when

In early May, the eta-Aquarids are perfectly moonless. But, the moon phases for the other meteor showers look pretty dismal for next year. Either way Schatzie and I are up for an outing anytime.

Further incentive for those in the Southeast: Sunday breakfast is always on me. Oatmeal Pancakes and Bacon. Outrageously good.
Early May might be OK for a S. GA, N FL trip.
My new tent doesn't leak Jules. Although I understand your concern. Was it the river we slept in the first night, or the carbon monoxide poison after I abandoned the tent to go sleep in the car (backed up to the tent) with the heater on that got to you?

Neither....I just got scared in that big, ol tent when ya'll left me alone....Besides...my fear of death by carbon monoxide poisoning was nothing compared to the look on your face when I woke you up by tapping my mag light on your car window....You had that look of pre-arrest depression....it was priceless.

Gee, I think I can make it. You know it is so hard to get me into the field Got my 12 gauge packed for crows and a rabbit foot for Jules (since we each do pretty good on our own, but the snakes hide when we are int he same car!) Of course my vote is for General Coffee State Park, very herper friendly staff, and only an hour or so from great road cruising!

Ahh, now that I am through with all the wedding planning stuff, I should be able to make a trip. Let's establish a time frame or at least a target month. May would seem to be a great time to go. I would be a grouchy herper if we were to go and it was 100 degrees. I'd rather be cold and wet.

Is everyone down with Memorial day weekend? I'll need to start now to get that through the senate...
Shady, in the field experience is a great way to learn! Just don't touch the snakes that rattle, ok?

Pros:
Extra day
A few more weeks for the weather to warm up
Cons:
The meteor shower is in early May
How full will the moon be...someone pointed out in a different post that moonless nites are best for road cruising since snakes are less visible to predators
I'm down with whichever, but thought i'd bring up those points

Herm and I will be interested in going, if you don't mind a couple of Newbies joining the fray?

The When part I will leave up to y'all, because our schedule is pretty flexible.
