Reef herping
I'm visiting my parents in the Keys for Easter. We're in the boat, going from the wreck of the Bentwood (where we saw 3 nurse sharks) over to Molasses Reef when suddenly what I thought was a patch of seaweed dived upon our approach. We were close enough that I could tell it was some kind of turtle, but not close enough to make a positive ID. Between the sharks and the turtle, it made for a pretty cool day. I still haven't found a croc yet, but will spend a little time tomorrow looking.

oh wow that sounds absolutely excellent! 
What fun! I always wanted to learn to SCUBA and I had a chance to learn from a friend for free..back when I was married to my first husband..JERK wouldnt let me go.. 
Now I dont think they make wet suits in SHAMU sizes...LOL |

Oh, I left off the iguanas. Cut through any of the canals here and you'll see iggys out sunning. We saw 2 today, both fairly good size.

Wet suits are for wusses. The water is 78 degrees. My spoiled mom won't get in until it's in the 80's though. We only snorkeled today. I can still get pretty deep, but the surface seems an awful lot further away than it did 10 years ago. I was able to get down around 30 feet, but can't spend very long there. It was pretty cool seeing all the sharks. The last one we saw, my son was trying to point out a barracuda to me. I looked past it and saw the shark. We followed it around (from a safe distance) for about 15 minutes.
No pix. The digi won't work underwater. |
