herping today... better results!
well, i went into the woods today. i saw a couple of five-lined skinks that were to fast to photo. and i saw a bunch of little toads that i took pics of, and the combination of my poor picture taking and their extremely small size resulted in the pics not showing the toads. but i did find the little fellow pictured below. he/she is about fourteen inches long. i actually found it on the side of the road under a rock, after all the searching in the woods lead to no snakes. if it will eat and shows signs of being healthy, i think i am gonna keep it.

You had better luck than me. We only found 2 ringnecks, a Rough Earth Snake (a first for me, so that is cool), a snapper, and a ton of lizards. We found one other snake. It was under a piece of tin in the middle of a briar patch. But it scooted off before I could get it. I was ready with hook and not tongs because last time it was a 4' Canebrake under the tin. This time, all I saw was the last half of it. And it wasnt a rattler, but it was big. I cannot even think of what it COULD be. Closest thing I can think of is a Cotton, but were outside of Cotton range. Maybe a huge watersnake that was VERY lost. Eventually I will catch the little Thorn Runner.

that sounds like fun. i normally only find ringnecks and brown snakes. i was so excited to find a king. if it darted toward the road, i'd have had to dart after, cars or no cars.
