I have a pair of my more mature boas in the same enclousre and they have started competeing for time in the water bowl. They don't have mites, internal parasites seem a real stretch as I only feed f/t and they were treated and cleared of them last year. They both have great sheds everytime (knock on wood) so I am trying like a madman to figure out why they both want in the water bowl?? They are in a large glass aquarium. Could they be stressed and feeling exposed? My latest theory is that the water bowl is secure b/c they are tight in it.
Suggestions are welcome. Morti and I are building 10 new cages next weekend so they will have their own enclosure soon so this may be a time will tell type thing...but I thought I would pose the question anyway.
Thanks,
Ted

HI,
Sounds like your snakes are doing great, Hey why not two water dishes on different sides of the cage, My new cage is 6 feet long and has two large hides and two large water dishes. SO they don't need to compete for the water or a hide, they usally curl up together in a large clay pot...

That is a good idea that I have overlooked. The only thing that bothers me about doing that is I have an overhead CHE on the warm side. I guess that they will just have to fight over who gets the warm water huh? LOL

Good catch Bo....the female shed just about a week ago so I don't think that is it. If I get this one figured out I will let you guys know. I am stumped. Maybe they just both like to soak.
I am still interested in hearing guesses or thoughts on this.
Thanks!

My "zeus " loves his water! he always has since he was a baby, he is usually in his water, or his hide, 7 out of 10 times if you look in his enclosure, he'll be in his water. "jesus" (pronounced he-sus) is a whole different story, I have NEVER seen him soaking on his own. "annette" (my new baby) so far has been in and out of her water a lot, I think she is going to be like Zeus and soak a lot. IMO it's just based on what the snake likes, yours must both like the water. -Juggalo
