Pregnant
I just found out yesterday that we are expecting our first child! I have a question though about handling my boa. Is it safe for me to continue holding him? And other than hand washing is there any other safe practices I should be doing?!
Thanx in advance!

Just normal hand cleaning. Don't recall if theres been any study as to cleaning cages, like with cleaning a cats litterbox. Way want to be safe than sorry and get hubby to clean it.
If you snake is fairly large, you may want to be concerned with picking up strong heavy things.
Oh yeah Congrats on the future ankle biter

As with any pets you need to be careful with handwashing.
Be extra vigilant even with household dogs which people disregard as safe----who can also carry salmonella as easily as an iguana.
Wear gloves when cleaning, wash hands with sanitizer after handling and you should be fine.
Be very careful when the baby is an infant as far as sanitizing.
And also be aware that children raised with pets who are exposed to all the strains that comes with them---are more likely to have greater resistance to those strains in the long run.
It makes sense when you think about it.
Congrats BTW!

Congrats!!
Handwashing should be ok, however, IMO... if your critter touches your shirt, it might be a good idea to change shirts. Just my 2c
Keep us posted.

Looks like you've all ready received more advice than I could give. But Congrats on the upcoming baby!
