I've read in a few posts about people using a thermosat to regulate temps but I have a question. We use a UTH in conjunction with a ceramic bulb, which we leave both on all the time, & the cage temps seem ok, the warm side at 86 to 88 and the cool side 80 to 82. Both of these devices are running, I'm guessing here, at their maximum heat output, so is a thermostat mainly using for lowering heat output or will one work to increase the temp of a UTH or ceramic bulb lamp? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Okay, thanks. So, if the temps are ok with both of the the devices on and not too hot, then I shouldn't need one just yet. Cool!

Hello Celticwench, I'm no expert but here's an info sheet I found while browsing. Yes you do use higher wattage bulbs with thermostats and it controls the temperature, but read this because it gives you a guide of what bulbs to use with what thermostat for whatever size cage if you know what I'm talking about. thermostat advice

hope this helps

Wow, Lisa, that caresheet is awesome, it covers everything.. It will definitely help, especially if we need to change his cage size or heating device. I appreciate the advice
