Fido's scales seem flakey and dry with some pulled back. He is new to us, I have checked for mites and he looks clean. This is going on multiple places on him in areas of about .5 to 1 inch and are verticle. Almost looks like scratches like he rubbed up against something. I have his humidity at 50. Any ideas of how to treat it? I really think they are scratches from something, (he came home like this).

That is interesting. Are they strange places sort of long and vertical and look like lines or horizontal? Do you have any pictures you could share with us?
Anyway, why I asked about the vertical line is I have seen scales bent in straight vertical lines when a snake is kept in a cage that is too small and the scales bend because of the constant coil the snake has to maintain since there isn't room enough to strech out. (Those lines infuriate me, I can not imagine not being able to straighten out for so long it actually damages your skin ) Unfortunatly, I see a lot of burms with those since people tend to keep them in small cages.
Weel try to get a pic or two and give us some more info on your baby, size, previous caging, etc.
and Welcome to RTB

I could take pics of it but unless you see it up close and personal you really cant tell. They are perfecht verticle lines and they are on both sides starting at his neck down to the tail. Like I said he came to us like this. That would make sense your thoery on small enclosure, he is 3.5 foot and was in a 10 gallon tank. Currently I have him in a large herp aqaurium that measures 3.5 ft long, 2 ft wide and 2.5ft tall while we build him a bigger home.

A 10gl for a 3.5' snake!? Having that fact, what Just-Me said could be right. A 10gl is way to small for a 3.5' snake!
