when to upgrade.
I have a rtb female 5-6 feet long. I ussually feed her a large rat 10-14 days. Now i think she needs more because at 8 days she looked ravenous. And the morning after she got fed she still looks hungry and on the hunt or ready to strike.
Should I upgrade to colossol rats? What do I do with the medium rats that I have? Feed her two at a time. Not powerfeed but give it to her on a plate and let her decide if she wants two.? I keep thinking chill out. I just fed you last night. Later today when it gets more light out she will finally go back to her box.
Should I feed her every 7 days until the large ones are gone and then upgrade to jumbo?
Thanks,
James

My 6 foot female takes a huge rat every 10-14 days, my 5 foot male who isn't quite as bulky as the female gets a large rat every 10-14 days. As long as she is maintaining good body weight there's no need to panic. With a boa you can feed about 1 1/2 times the girth of the snake with no worries, they are built to eat large prey. If she can take a huge rat then give her a huge rat and see how long she goes before she looks hungry again. Feeding a large rat every 14 days to a 6 foot female boa is not powerfeeding.

At that age and size one appropriate sized prey item every 10-14 days is just right. Now whether or not to upgrade to colossal, thats a judgement call for you to make. As Tupak mentioned, the girth rule is what to go by. One prey item the size of the biggest part of your snake is just right. If you have leftover large ones and feeding two of them would be about the same as one colossal, then yes, feed two of those every 10-14 days. As for your snake being very active still the day after feeding, it coud be due to many things, nothing to really worry about.

Is it better to feed two large rats at one feeding every 14 days or longer. Or one large rat a week. At 7 days now she looks hungry and on the hunt. And she hasn't pooped in a while like a month I guess. If she is eating enough they will poop faster? If she doesn't eat enough it will be slower? The temps should be right. 80-84 at night on the hot side and 88-92 in the day on the warm side.
Thanks

btw the snake is the same one as above and do they eat more often or more food in the summer? Because the days are getting longer and warmer.
