Thanks for coming around again sveaz and taking the suggestions to heart. Sorry for any that seem harsh, just take what you can get from it all and remember that everyone has their own opinions! Hope it all turns out well for ya, and lemme say that if you don't give an update here on the situation as it progresses you'll have a LOT of people left hanging! We all like to hear of how things turned out when these things come up, especially when they turn out for the best!

Sorry for assuming you were a troll, sveas. We get trolls all the time on another site I frequent, so I guess I've become a bit jaded. Glad to hear the snake seems ok.

Hey that was a GREAT post Captain.
Seriously though very apologetic, yet not over the top---very well meant I could tell. Like TW said, very big of you to publically admit you were wrong.
I myself thought this was a troll---so I was guilty of jumping to conclusions as well.
You really did the right thing---and I can tell the mistake was made simply because you care so much about the animal yet might of lost sight of the pitfalls of being a beginner.
Kudos to you

Hi everybody. Here's the update: Snake seems fine with dishrag in her belly. Perhaps she's digesting it, but at any rate she doesn't seem sick. Her owner and I have called it quits so I'm not going to be a snakesitter anymore, nor will I be around to dissuade the idiotic surgery idea. Let's all hope she pulls through! Thanks, everyone, for helping out.

Sveaz-
I'm glad you were able to fight through the barrage of personal insults given by some of our "experts" here. People get carried away, and most of them did apologize. And, as you will notice, Eddie and Julius were good administrators and repremanded them. I still hold with Jules... same as I said in the beginning of this post. The hardest part of having snakes is that EVERYTHING they do requires waiting! I'm curious to know what a snake would do if it happened to swallow a rat/mouse exiting a cotton field on harvest day for all of you who think cotton turns to cement in the gut. Oh, and I was going to ask... how big is the snake?? We were assuming pretty good size but I see that it's only a year old... couldn't be too big. The mineral oil situation does sound good (as usual with Julius' advice), but make sure that if someone who's not experienced is doing it that they're very careful around and inside the snake's mouth. Shouldn't have a temper problem with a redtail like that. Good luck and keep us posted!

Hey You All-- Luckily I've retained visitation rights and the snake-- Sid-- is still frisky-ish and fine. The rag seems to be getting digested, slowly breaking down. Will keep you updated!
