Shedding issues..
On the 6th I wrote about my snake having a bad shed. Well she seems to be shedding again already. She ate 3 fuzzy mice after her shed could she be ready to shed already? She is getting longer already since her shed but how often do they shed? She is like 3 months old. Just curious. The temps in her tank are at 86 and 76 her humidity has been going from 40-90 (we just got a fogger and are trying to keep her humidity up.) I spray her tank down a few times a day but it still seems to stay so low (except when I first spray) Thanks

Dani,
My babies usually shed every month. It seemed to me they slowed down the frequency of shedding slightly at about a year or so old.
I'd be careful just how humid you kept the cage/tank ..... since you didn't list what kind of snake above I am hesitant what to say here though as I might be putting my foot in my mouth..... if it is a Columbian Boa I'd say 70 per cent at shed is plenty. I also use
a bowl large enough for the baby to totally lay in ... that tends to help with humidity also
especially if kept toward the warmer side of the cage/tank.
On the temps I'd bump her cool side up to 79 or 80. 76 just seems a bit low.
I'm not saying she will get an RI but that is always a possibility. To me safer is better.
Others are bound to stop in and hand you some advise. At this point I surely wouldn't worry about a baby snake if it is shedding monthly. You are feeding weekly correct?

I would also recommend bumping the warm up just a wee bit, too. Try to get it to 88.
Are you not able to get pink rats for it? 3 prey items, even so small seems like a bit much. 1 rat pink or fuzzy, depending on the baby's size, would be better. As Sunn asked, what kind of snake is it so we can provide better information?

It's a redtail.
Click on Danis profile and you can track the posts and see a few pics of it too
And yes, babies do shed more often than larger boas, as the babies will seem to be in a perpetual growth spurt for a while

do you feed live fuzzy mice? If so, hopefully mites aren't a factor. Mites will cause them to shed quicker too so they can try to get rid of them. Sort of like a skin coffin for the mites.....

I have asked about rat pups at the only pet store here and "they are not readily available in this area" so we are gonna try a mouse to see how she does with it. She was 21 inches long last time I measured her (last week) and is around 3 months old. I had meant to say the humidity is up to 70 not 90. and hoppers not fuzzys. It was way to early for me that day too.. LOL She looks great today after she shed completely and pooped on me. YUCK! She is getting live fuzzys right now. We are gonna be switching her to f/t or f/k real quick. To many horror stories..Thanks for all advice and I appreciate ya all
