For me the pillow case way is the best too. Then I don't have to hold it or see it.

never killed a rat (not to feed to a snake, anyway). but to kill mice, i put a screwdriver against the back of the neck and snatch up on the tail. works pretty good, and rarely do they bleed profusely.

I just hold them at the base of the skull, (hand around the neck). And jerk the tail. Works for rats and mice.

my personal method of "whacking" is take the mouse/rat find a corner of a countertop etc....whack the mouse/rat on the neck area on the corner...the neck should be broken but just to play it safe lay it out pin the neck and pull the tail swiftly

When I have to feed pre killed i use a paper grociery bag and just slam it. that way you can just throw the bag away. Feeding f/t is better though because it kills parasites. Rats are healthier because they have more meat and nutrients i think.

i dont think anything is painless except gasing them
you think it would be a bad idea to put them in the freezer alive
