Funny Scales...
My 2 year old, around 4 foot RTB has this funny line on her side. You can actually see the line, and the scales right under it kind of stick out a little more than the rest at the edges. She just shed (a good one), and she's had it for quite some time (as long as I can remember) but I just never thought to post about it until now. Anyone have any ideas what the heck that is? I'll try to get some pics later.

sounds to me like thats where she was all curled up. like, when you wake up in the morning and you have lines all over your body from sleeping so hard.

It's normal. Once they start putting a bit of body weight on, they will develop a line or three in various places from curling up. Don't say this out loud around them....but it's cause they got some fat under there ...I guess anyway. The fatter the snake the more of those you will see anyway.

That's funny... I've been meaning to ask essentially the same question, just never got around to it (had a pic i was gonna post).
My RTB has a bunch of them... i thought they were a snake's version of stretch marks or something from rapid growth.
Mine's got maybe 8 or so (1 every 2-3 inches along her mid-section).
I guess this makes sense though. (although they never seem to go away)

I have always thought that those go away and are replaced in different places, depending on how the boa has been lying. Scales are only attached at the top of the scale, and they are bendable, although not like the underlying skin, they do bend.
Do you guys think they are always in the same place, or nearly the same place?

Hmm... i never thought about that.
To be honest I have no clue if they're in the same places, or slightly different.
I just notice a number of them whenever I pick her up, so I just assumed they were in the same place.

Done eddie, I'll let ya know!
Oh and to add to what Julius said. If your snake is a male you can mention it around him as long as its in a joking matter. He'll get a good laugh out of it, kinda like talkin bout a guys beer gut. BUT DEFINITELY follow his advice if it's a female, do not talk about it anywhere near her, not even in the same house. You men know what I'm talking bout. If it seems impossible for her to hear she will still hear it and you will never be dealing with the same woman, I mean uh snake, again!

Ok, I know exactly what you mean. It's probably more than one line right? How often do you feed your snakes? It could be a sign of obesity if you power feed them. I used to until they hit the same size yours are now. Now I've backed off and the lines aren't quite as apparent. Believe me, I didnt just cut them off and let them starve for a month. But now it's more like once every 2 weeks. The bigger they get and the bigger the prey you feed, the more time digestion takes so you'll have to adjust your feeding schedule. That's my .02

Yeah... mine has multiple lines. She's about 4 1/2 feet. Doesn't look overweight to me, but she's the only snake I've owned.
Here's a pic... you can see a couple 'folds' on the far right, so maybe you're right. I've got a good close up pic of the lines, but will have to wait till I get home to transfer from my camera...
