?'s for the more experienced BCI breeders!
I have a 5 year old female that has had her POS and has shown signs of fertilization. My concern is this: On Wednesday she got below her substrate which I use an old bed sheet, any way she dislodged the sensor for the rheostat and the temps got way too high. like 130+. No burns are visable no blisters ect...Can that much heat compromise the litter? I am concerned as I have not see her getting any bigger. She is still eating and she is very active. Right now temps are 86-90 on the warm side and 74-78 cool side. With humidity at 65%.
Any information I can get and advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance. Jamie

How long was she exposed to the heat? and how far along in the pregnancy?
If not for long shouldn't be too many issues. Specially if she has access to a soaking bowl to cool off. If its later in the pregnancy the babies may come out striped instead of saddled.

Well in that short of time you wont notice any size change in her. This time with my girl is the first time i really notice her getting big, but never saw the ovulation.
Her last clutch she had a Highly visible ovulation, but she never seemed to get bigger.
So the fact your not seeing growth is nothing to worry about at this stage. It's hard to say what the effects will be if any at this stage. If she wasn't exposed for that long i wouldnt worry about it too much.

Oh yeah I forgot to answer that ? about how long she was on the heat. I am not sure how long she was there, maybe two hours, but I do know when I got home and found her like that she was completely warm and I mean very warm. I took her out to let her cool off. YOu would think that they know when they get too warm they would move, right? But she did not and I was very scared that she had burned her belly, but all I see is her normal orange color that she always has. Thank you for you advice and I will keep my fingers crossed and hope for healthy neonates. Although Striped tails are too cool, I like saddles better.
Thanks again. Jamie

I want to Thank Ed_r for the replys. I would really like more advice from some other breeders regarding this post. I know there are quite a few breeders on this forum. Thank you all and take care!
