vixen and gerbils
okay i have done what everyone said and not given vixen anymore hamsters or gerbils. she is now good and hungry. how i know she is hungry is a put a rat in her cage on paper as far away from her as i could and immediately she went across the tank to the rat. she has climbed on it, put her face on it and has stared at it 1/2 inch frrom it for 2 hours! i wiggled it once and she put her face on it but never bit it! anyone have any suggestions. last rat i put in a freezer bag with a gerbil and thawed them together and rubbed the gerbil all on the rat. she bit it coiled it and stopped eating it when she realized it was a rat. can anyone think of what to do to get her to eat the **** rat???

Put a sheet or towel over or around the cage to make it nice and dark and private and leave her alone with the rat overnight.

Have you tried a live rat. Maybe that will spark the killing instinct. And if she eats it, then maybe it will put the taste back in her mouth. Just keep and eye on the rat. They can be mean. Stand back in the dark room with the light on in the cage so the snake won't see you. just a thought. Or just wait another 2 weeks or so. Eventually the snake will take the rat. 21 days is not much to get concerned about. My adult male boa hasn't eaten since Dec 28. Hes in a breeding fast though, but still goes to show they can go awhile.
