nope she isnt ready to shed. she just shed a week ago and it was a perfect shed. she wiped her mouth like she wanted the taste of the rat gone! she just wiped it real quick after biting the rat. and the rat was spoiled this morning and she was still staring at it!

that is what i did. i wiggled it she struck it and tossed it out of her mouth! then she wiped her mouth on her newspaper.

I think that you were in Hover mode there yourself Louise!
Like Herm said, tapping the prey on our bci's side intermittently did the trick
|
but i keep peeking in the dark so i wouldnt bug her. she has a moon glow bulb so i can see.

as soon as i took the rat out she went to the spot it was at and kept like examing the spot. like smelling it i guess. if she would have struck a hamster or gerbil she wouldnt have spit it out.

I have a BCI who's only coming up on 2 years old (about 4.5 feet) and he used to always do that. Hover over it like he would kill me if I took it, but not eating it. My suggestion? Put the snake in a feeder tank/container that is small enough that it can't really get away from the rat. Leave it in there for a while and see what happens. Worked for me. That's the only way he'll eat now.
