i know this is a stupid question, but when you see 2.1 anole (for example), what does that mean? 2 males and one female? just wondering. thanks.

Yep, you got it. If you have say, 2.1.4, that means you have 2 males, 1 female, and 4 unsexed (usually refers to juveniles).
