Urate Removal
Why do urates disintegrate when you try to remove them from the cage?
I use cypress mulch for the substrate on my snakes but I swear if I just "wave" the pooper scooper over a urate it explodes into little snake popcorn peepees.
Anyone have a better method that I can try when removing these buggers
At least with the poo you can get it out relatively easily once it congeals - Unless of course Mr. Hanky paid a visit and decorated walls, floor and boa with the Turd D'jour.

I keep a stock of old walmart bags in the room. I put my hand in the bag and grab a big handful of mulch surrounding the urates, wrap and knot the bag, then toss it.

I tend to use newspaper on the bottom of the tank so all i have to do is roll it up.
if it does turn into popcorn peepee i just get out the dustbuster and whallah poof goes the pee.

Sounds like I will be using the Grab and Pitch method now, Paper or Plastic
Thanks for the input!
