shipping a snake
can anyone give me information on how to ship a snake? i have red tail boa that i need to give away, but no one nearby can take him, so i have to ship him, but i have no idea how to go about shipping.

I am in staten island not too far---I need to know a few things before I stand before the king of the castle a beg---migt not work depending on his mood.....how large is the cage and how large is the snake...that's a good start |

Ok... good... you found the thread on the snake.
I am sure that we can find a great home for it if we can just get it to a good temp home.... who knows Nicole your hubby may ned up loving the snake and want to keep it

Please ask me anything. I work in shipping. Well, don't ask me on packaging and all that, I don't do enough of it. But if your shipping great distances, which service, want some facts on what your snake will have to go through to get to it's destination. Temps and stuff, let me know. But don't ship during the winter....

It gets cold 
Seriously though, that is the reason that most people should not ship in the dead of winter. Even those of us who are experienced shipping live animals in suboptimum temperatures view it as a risk. There's on;y so much warming that a heat pack can do. On the other hand, overkill or the wrong type of heat packs will kill a snake even quicker than the cold will. |

Or not activating the heat pack properly.... :-/ You have to be careful with that sort of thing if using them.
