Well, if you wouldn't mind posting your setup again here, it might be useful to those that haven't seen it. There's a few thing they might could be the reason for it not feeding. It could be because the snake has never fed or it could be a inside infection. Some others things could be that maybe it was WC and hasn't fed on F/T ( presuming you feed non live prey to your snake ) or it could be off feed. Perhaps, a vet check would be the best idea for that period of time. I'll try to do some research and see if I can find some vets around your area.

Sounds like you have a good setup, but a few things I should change if I was you. I want get to harsh about this, but for all glory, do not feed live prey to your animals. This carries many risks that could harm ( defensive bites from rats/mice that will leave scars ) and even death at times. Try to switch to Frozen / Thawed. Also, by a rubbermaid tub from somewhere ( they are very cheap ) and use it as a feeding tote. If you feed your snake in his cage he will begin to think every time you open the door that it is feeding time and will strike thinking it's dinner time. Just a few good tips that will help you and your snake as well. As for the feeding, I don't have any good opinions to give except for a vet checkup.

I fail to see how a live pink rat is capable of delivering a lethal bite. That's not to say that zelph shouldn't switch to F/T , but let's keep things in perspective. I've yet to see a neonatal rodent suckle a snake to death.

The snake could become used to eating live prey and refuse to eat anything else later. Not to mention the internal parasites that could have been passed onto it by it's mother. Lots of things could happen. It's just better to try and prevent them.

As i had said before, i wasn't dismissing the need for P/K food items. Just that in this particular instance the individual had stated that he was feeding a neonatal rodent, which led me to believe that the poster who was defending P/K was only doing so out of some strange dogmatic principle, rather than being dictated by his own logic. Had he been concerned about parasites he should've mentioned F/T [edit:my apologies, he did mention this, but i believe out of habit rather than for medical purposes. Or else why all the hype about bite wounds] and not simply defended his position as it pertains to live food , sense i'm sure you'll agree that neither P/K or F/K significantly diminishes any likelyhood that you'll transmit parasites.
As far as the conditioning of a snake to live food goes? I've taken snakes that were fed live their entire lives and switched them. Also, it shall be noted, that neonatal snakes can at times be difficult to feed P/K food items and may need to be "weened" unto dead food. That's not to say that individuals don't vary, they in fact vary greatly, as i will attest to. But let's not succumb to any fallacies about this individual , or his/her snake. I was merely making an observation that the poster was being pretentious, and quite arrogant in morality. Holier-then-thou if you will, without actually thinking about the repercussions of his/her post.
Also, it was a joke. But i know how folks are about their sacred cows. Or in this case, rats.

Entropy,
Alex

Zelph, have you tried putting the mice/rat in a feed box with the snake. I've got a JCP who will refuse to eat until I put her in a box and isolate her from everything else. Lights off, no noise, no smells. Just her and the mouse. Even then she'll just lay there for a couple three hours.

Good luck and hope this helps.

Boas and pythons don't really go "off feed" like colubrids xzylum....setup sounds good but what kind of UTH are you using? A vet trip would be a good idea. But don't go without a fecal sample in a baggy. It has to be fresh and moist and not dried up. Just letting you know the vets going to want one ahead of time. This will help him/her eliminate internal parasites. How long have you had him? It very well could be he doesn't feel secure yet. One thing you could do is put the rtb and the pinky rat into a OLD pillowcase and leave it there for a couple hours. A pinky rat won't deliver the lethal blow but when you get to the big boys feed dead so you don't have a dead snake. An adult rat can really mess up an adult snake. None the less if you ever decide to feed live please make sure you watch the snake kill the rat. NEVER DROP A LIVE RAT IN THE TANK AND WALK AWAY!! hehehehehe...you said mittle....how old are you?
