New Boa, Need Help Taming
Today I got dropped off a new boa from a guy I know, she was tame for him and has had a long day etc but hse is in a MOOD, she's going nuts at her tank whenever someone is in sight of her. I know she is due a feed and also getting ready to go into shed mix that with a long day and travelling a good few miles I know not to expect a happy girl. She tagged me this morning and has stayedi n a foul mood, I'm planning to leave her totally alone until she has shed expect for feeds and water change. She is at 88d.f on the warm side and about 75-80on cool with a hide and branch and water bowl big enough to soak in, I have also put a worn t-shirt on her branch so she knows my smell a bit.
Is there anything I can do to help handling her at all or just give her time? I have 1royal python and 2corns but this is my first experience with a boa.
This is venus lookin happy:

Yeah just leave her alone for awhile and she should settle down. Do you feed her live or F/T. Frozen thawed will also settle her down. She is probably just a little stressed out and will be back to normal in a week or two.

Well thats good, F/T are better for a number of reasons, but it sounds like you are doing everything right adn I am sure she will settle down just give her her space.

No I can't really tell by the pic. And the only way to tell truly is by its blood line.

Hey Rachel - it really sounds like you have done your homework! **gives Rachel a pat on the back***
Your new girl is probably a little stressed right now and needs time to get used to new smells, new environment. I would just feed her, let her shed, then by that time she should be acclimated a bit.
Take her out a little bit each day and I believe in a month you should see some improvement in her behavior.
Good Luck, don't get discouraged! Bci's make great pets

snakes bites are whack, they don't hurt, iguana bites are what you watch out for, those things don't get teeth, they got razors...

Full membership requires photographic evidence, but we'll keep you on probationary status on your word. Bonus points if the snake is still attached in the pic.
All that nonsense aside, be sure to keep us updated on how calming her down goes...
