male???
okay i was told all 3 of my snakes were females but i just read that if your redtail is a male that the spurs (I THINK THAAT IS WHAT YOU CALL THEM. THE THINGS THAT LOOK LIKE CAT CLAWS THAT STICK OUT BUY WHERE THEY GO POTTY) STICK OUT. well vixen has 2 that stick out all the time. vixen is 7 months old now and shares a cage with vanity. vanity is a female for sure. i so dont want baby snakes so that is why i was wondering. i also read that you have to have them probed to tell. my other 2 snakes have been probed.

even females have spurs. The males are just longer. They use them to stimulate the female when it comes time to "rub her the right way". "All night long, all night!!!" I would suggest to probe all your snakes. It's the only 100% way to know.

Male spurs aren't always longer(usually they are but not always)...But they are also usually heavier / thicker...Sometimes you can tell by a hemepenal bulge...but you can always tell with proper probing. If Vixen turns out to be a male...please call him Vic or something...poor snake will have a complex growing up with a chick name. :P

Rule of thumb is an old English Law that you can't beat your wife with a rod thicker in diameter than your own thumb LOL

Is there any connection to the length and size of the tail to the sex of the snake? My wife was reading a book on redtails and started asking me *shrug* I was always told that to know for sure is to probe.
