Handle too much?
Sorry if this has been covered in another post. I am a first time owner of a RTB. I was wondering if there is a thing as handling too much. I don’t want her to get ticked off at me for holding her all the time?
When I say “all the time”, I don’t really mean sun up to sun down. More like, when I get home from work, hold a few hours and a few more hours on the weekends that sort of thing.
Thanks for your time!!

The only real probs with any handling, are if they are ill, recently fed (within 24 - 48 hours) and after drinking a lot of water. (snakes can't hold liquids too well )
Other than that, it keeps them for the most part, docile, and exercised.
Welcome aboard toker

I've heard that you can go blind if you handle it too much but...... oh wait, nevermind.

I haven't heard of the going blind part.... but what do I know, I don't have one that I handle all the time! LOL
But really.... handling often is not a bad thing at all. As Eddie says, it makes them more docile.
Welcome to the party Toker!

I think he meant you can get hairy palms from handling them too much.

Handling is a very important just as these guy's have said. Just keep in mind the handling after feeding and you should be fine. Actually alot of snakes seem to enjoy being handled and certianly a few hours won't hurt anything.

I guess "use it or lose it!" fits here. Thing is, I hear handling too much causes faster heartbeats per minute. Half an hour a day should be fine.

Just to input... I have some snakes that will tolerate handling most of the time, but not on their "moody days"... they will politely refuse by pushing me away when i try to get them.... so i think there is handling too much... let the snake be the judge, if all is well go for it...
