My First Shed
Let me just say, I am very new to this. I got my young red tail boa exactly 8 days ago. My boa started shedding yesterday september 1st.
I'm just wondering if there is anything i can do to make this experience as easy as possible on me and my boa. Thank you.

Yesterday when I was changing the water I noticed my boa started its shed, skin caps forming over the eyes and all that.

Re: My First Shed
If the humidity's right, he'll do fine on his own. A little misting with warm water wouldn't hurt. Don't feed him or handle him if you can avoid it. It could take another week or two to complete the shed.

Re: My First Shed
On that topic, is it normal for a small spot to remain after a shed? I figure that it will just come off with the next shed. OH...have any of you used a product that is supposed to help shedding?

Re: My First Shed
humidity that helps shedding... You shouldn't need a "shed ease" or anything like that if your husbandry is correct...
and if there is a little stuck shed you can wet a washcloth with lukewarm water and rub it gently

Re: My First Shed
you'll want to remove any skin that didn't come off during his shed. it can cause problems down the road.

My Boas normally are "blue" for a couple of days, clear up and then shed 3-5 days later.
