Help Chameleon Poop Impaction?

Today this little guy was dropped of at my husbands work (Petsmart).

He was aparently dropped off there because he wasnt eating or pooping.

So when my hunny first got his hands on this guy he noticed a lot of feces caked up around his potty place. He was impacted with poop and a small piece of bark. He got him all cleaned up and was able to remove all the poop and bark from the area.

But he isnt out of the woods, he also has both of his eyes closed and they seem to be a litle sunken in. Also you can see in the second picture that he has a huge lump at the base of his tail behind his poopy place.

Im wondering if anyone can help me. I know Chameleons are pretty hard to take care of and I dont know to much about them. I will be doing some research but was hoping yall had some input, we really want to get him better and make him a part of the family.

Thanks for your help!

Re: Chameleon Poop Impaction?

I'm sure you know, but his eyes being sunken in are the first signs of an unhealthy Cham.

He seems to have good weight. from the pics I can't tell- but is his cask have bends, or does it go straight up?

I would possible try to have a slow trickle of luke warm water run over his cage (him) to see if that may help him go to the bathroom.

I would not handle him at all! Chameleons stress really bad from a new environment and handling. those can compound his health issues.

I would contact a well known breeder like screameleons or Kammerflage kreations and see if they have any advice.

*It needs to be seen by a vet!*

Re: Chameleon Poop Impaction?

do his eyes open? I don't see them opened in any of the pics. The only problems I ever had with Chams was eye infections.

His eyes really are not sunken in, if they are it's not bad at all.

Re: Chameleon Poop Impaction?

His eyes really dont seem to be sunken in after watching him a little more, they are just always closed I have yet to see him open them. When he is just sitting in his cage you can see him moving his eyes around they just arent open.

My hunny was showering him with water last night and started messing with his poop area and noticed that he has poop back up in his hemipenis area. he was able to get tweezers and slowly rub the poop out of that area but the area is still all swollen looking.

After reading up about issues with chameleons they say it could possibly be a vitamin A defficiency. Has anyone had anything like that with their Chameleons?
