Is my RTB small?
She eats an adult mouse once a week. She is about 2 years old and about three feet long. I've read many grow that long in their first year.
thanks

Re: Is my RTB small?
sounds a little small for that age, but not all snakes are created equal. Im sure if you switch to rats it would help

Re: Is my RTB small?
is an adult mouse big enough for her? does it leave a slight buldge after she eats?

Re: Is my RTB small?
I agree, at 3' she is probably ready to move up to a rat every 2-3 weeks. Rats have larger bones, therefore more calcium than mice.
3' at 2 years is smaller than usual, but no cause to worry. Every snake grows at its own rate.

Re: Is my RTB small?
I'm gonna be honest... She is not being properly fed...
At 2 years old she should be a bit larger then she is now... She NEEDS to be on rats... Baby boas can be fed hopper or adult mice... But they should be moved up to fuzz or pup rats as soon as they can eat them... They have much better nutrition then mice...
Your boa NEEDS to be eating rats... Especially at 2 years old...

Re: Is my RTB small?
seems small to me, but like what has been said every boa grows at their own pace.
my yearling boas are all 3' and up, some closer to 4'.
i dunno if a switch from adult mice to baby rats (fuzzies/pups) is an upgrade since we're comparing adults to babies that primarily feed on milk?
is this a dwarf boa of sorts? you have any pics?
as long as its pooping regularly and shedding properly i wouldnt be too worried about it.

Re: Is my RTB small?
Yeah, I have felt like the adult mice are too small for her. Hard to get live rats around here that arent too big. Guess I will switch to frozen. That way I have a lot more selection, as far as size.
Yes I feed her live. I know the opinions.
Hopefuly she will take to the frozen ones quickly. We'll see what happens.
Thanks for the advice!

Re: Is my RTB small?
Since you have been feeding live you schould also get it checked for parasites
There is so many things that is wrong with live feeding live and buy your comment I assume you know the dangers

Re: Is my RTB small?
deff. start her on frozen rats... if she can eat 2 adult mice at a time then she is plenty big for weaned rats. buy a bag of those online. im sure she shouldnt have much, if any issues switching to frozen.
