Boaphile v. Vision
I'm looking at stepping up to some quality cages for my boas. It's down to the vision and boaphile cages. Any opinions on which is better would be greatly appreciated. I've only seen the visions in person but from the Internet I'm kind if leaning torwards the boaphile.

Re: Boaphile v. Vision
I have both and I very much prefer the boaphiles.
Both of my vison cages bowed and the sliding glass is now very hard to open. Visions have a giant vent in the back that allows too much airflow and makes maintaining humidity very difficult.
We keep our desert species.. like my tortoise in visions, and they work great for that.
Boaphiles are the perfect cage for boas, hands down. And you can get them with the "Built In" heat and light. Just remember, boaphile is largely run by one guy. He builds takes the orders, builds the cages, and ships the cages. He also cleans the snakes and feeds the rats... so don't be sad if it takes 6 - 8 weeks or more to get your order.

Re: Boaphile v. Vision
If I had to choose between Boaphile and Vision and no others, Boaphile would be my choice.
The Vision cages that I have worked with bow out very badly, lean awkwardly and you'd think they'll fall, and the doors can be a pain to get out.
Personally though I love my AP cages. Yes you have to assemble them, but it wasn't as bad as I thought. Plus I received better customer service than Boaphile.

Re: Boaphile v. Vision
As a cage builder, I heartily endorse Boaphile cages as the very best cage for keeping Boas. The 421D is a perfect choice for most Boas. Hard to improve on perfection.

Re: Boaphile v. Vision
Neodesha cages rule! for boas.. In My Opinion.. Unfortunately, they went out of business and the new people online saying they have them do not reply to anything short of the C-Card... Maybe not even then.. since I have not had the temerity to go so far!
.
About the others.. I have some Vision caging, it works OK. Of the Boaphile cages I know nothing.
.
Have a great day!

Re: Boaphile v. Vision
I was in your shoes. I was determined to get a vision but I found a deal on a Boaphile I couldn't pass up. I'm really happy with it. I have not owned any other name brand cages, but I will buy another Boaphile in the future.
good luck

Re: Boaphile v. Vision
have you considered neodesha? they a little expensive but are classic as {heck}. vision cages are a little cheaper than boaphile and i think vision cages are great u even can put in a basking light if you get the right tank. do your homework explore your options and never accept less than you feel you deserve.

Re: Boaphile v. Vision
I can get a really good deal on a 4' neodeshas. But their racks are expensive (to stack them) and they don't seem to have many options. I do like Visions, but then I also really like the boaphile. to each his own.

Re: Boaphile v. Vision
You can easily build your own rack out of 2x4s for the Neodeshas:
I had some of the square 4 foot and "6 foot" (actually 5.5ft) Neodeshas for a while, but upgraded to AP. I thought I loved the Neodeshas, but realized they looked ugly! There was too much wasted space and they were a ugly urate yellow!

Re: Boaphile v. Vision
yeah that rack made for those neodeshas looks very beautiful. considering that neodesha racks cost more than the cages do.. which is stupid in my opinion. but that is a job well done.

Re: Boaphile v. Vision
I currently have one neodesha, and I have used several in the past.
I cannot recommend them due to their shoddy, non-stackable design, their tendency to change color, and the ultra thin, easily crackable material. Back when they were the only cage out there, they were the best. The world has progressed and left them behind.

Re: Boaphile v. Vision
mines are fine. and the 8 footers are stackable and so are the 48 and 36 but you must have the rack to accomodate it. i am a firm believer in if it aint broke dont fix it... but i do love boaphile and vision... but i also love the rare hard to find stuff that holds its value ie. ''neodeshas" . especially with my boas.

Re: Boaphile v. Vision
The only things I don't like abut Boaphile cages are that they stain really easily.....so if you have anything other than a black cage, its going to get ugly pretty quick. Also, the standard 4x2x1 models used for boas are IMO, too short. When removing large snakes from them, it can be a little difficult and you'll scrape the snakes belly on the edge of the cage, which to me is worse than nails on a chalkboard.

Re: Boaphile v. Vision
So I still haven't bought cages. And now I have come across PVCcages.com stuff. It seems pretty comparable to boaphile in design but might be a little less expensive. Anybody have any experience with these cages?

They are not really all that comparable. They are the same price (or a little more) and they are shipped disassembled.
