CypressMulch?
I bought some cypress mulch from petsmart to use as substrate to try and get the humidity right. Astro turf just isnt doing it. I heard you need to bake it before use to kill any pests. Can someone explain to me how to do this? Thanks in advance.

Re: CypressMulch?
It isn't very hard but honestly I think freezing it is a lot easier.

Re: CypressMulch?
So I froze the mulch over night. Do I just let it thaw out and than I can use it?

Re: CypressMulch?
Yeah the baking can get a bit annoying. If you have a chest freezer thats the way to go.

Re: CypressMulch?
Anything brought in from a pet store could potentially carry parasite, especially reptile specific parasites. I prefer products from Home Improvement stores, as you typically get a lot more for your money.
As for baking it, I used to do 200 degrees for an hour, stirring occasionally.

Re: CypressMulch?
I get mine from Lowe's and spray liberally with Equate Lice spray before putting the snake in.
For me it's just not feasible to bake four 2 cubic foot bags whenever I change bedding.
