bad timing
i've mentioned before that i am getting ready to drive cross-country with my snakes. i have a couple questions i could use advice on. the drive would start monday august 9, to arrive august 16.
1- one of my snakes shed today - i normally don't feed the day of shed, since i figure the skin is still fresh. if i feed tomorrow (aug 6), will that be enough time to digest without trouble before the drive? i worry about regurge.
2- one of my snakes is blue - i suspect he won't actually shed until next week, while on the road. should i just put something rough in the pillow case with him? or in the insulated box but outside the pillow case?
thanks in advance..

Re: bad timing
if it were me I wouldn't feed them at all... for like a week before the move at least... I dunno about you, but I'd like to NOT have a poo on that long of a drive, LOL!
My snakes will have gone 2-3 weeks without a meal as of this weekend when I feed them because we are on vacation and I wanted to limit the amount of poo Crystal would have to clean... And apparently even that wasn't enough because most of them made messes anyway -_-
and I wouldn't worry about the one in shed... Just mist him a couple times if you are worried about it....
BTW... that is a REALLY long time for a cross country drive, haha... my hubby's parents drove from northern PA to Phoenix and back up to Vegas in 2 1/2 days >.>

Re: bad timing
Don't feed, and it will be fine with shedding. Two of mine shed during my cross country trip in the pillow case. They'll rub against the pillowcase and shed just fine.

Re: bad timing
two snakes. ball & king. 7 days is sort of long, but not really - we've done it before and are super careful/paranoid about temps etc - it's stressful on the animals, but they should be okay.
thx re: feeding & shedding. i won't feed until i get there -- how many days should i give it once i get there? i.e., how long do they need to settle in before i feed them again?
i might mist a bit on the road - the ball will shed, and he's always a little more of a problem since he won't have a good shed if the humidity is off

Re: bad timing
I'd give them a week, maybe two to settle in.

Re: bad timing
you can buy a converter pretty cheap these days if you want to power a heat source.
