Feeding Schedule
Hi my BCI has reached 5 and a half feet and is more than a handful around, i just had a question about switching her over to a 14 day feeding schedule,
i currently have her on a 7, 8 day schedule, on ome jumbo rat.
When do you guys make the switch for your boas, shes not quite full grown yet but shes a pretty big girl

Re: Feeding Schedule
I believe if she is on jumbo rats she should be on a 14 day feeding schedule. My girl started her 14 day feeding cycle at medium rats and is now on large and growing beautifully.
How old is she?

Re: Feeding Schedule
I switch my boas over to a 14 to 18 day feeding schedule when they are 1 to 1 1/2 years old. My adult boas 8 foot and bigger eat 1 rabbit every 3 to 4 week. I don't use jumbo rats to feed any of my boas. If they can eat a jumbo rat they can eat a small rabbit. In my opinion jumbo rats are not good to feed to your boa as they have too much fat in them. If you want feed your boa two large rats instead of one jumbo rat. This will be healthier for your boa.
Take care
Tom

Re: Feeding Schedule
I started my BCI on a 14 day schedule (that's on proportionally large feeders) before she was two years old. I personally prefer feeding all of my snakes on a slower schedule than most.
A 7 or 8 day schedule should be fine for your snake as long as she's still growing, but there's no harm in switching to 14 days if you are so inclined. It is my belief that slower schedules are the healthiest way to go, but to each their own.

Re: Feeding Schedule
Thats a nice looking snake! Its my understanding that once you go to large or jumbo, thats when you switch to the 2-week plan.

Re: Feeding Schedule
My advice to you is to feed one large wife's nose every two weeks....
Just joking!!!!!!!
Your boa is very lucky that you have her and she looks wonderful! And I think you got some good help here already.
