Lampropeltis getula ?
Hi,
can anyone tell me which subspecies is it? I've got this snake a week ago. The previous owner said it is L. g. californiae. Of course it isn't... But is it floridana?
Thanks a lot!
ps.: It is not the best pic, I didn't want to disturbe my new friend, but if it is necessary I can take more shots!

Re: Lampropeltis getula ?
I won't swear to it from just the picture, but I've bred aberent cal kings like that, also had similar desert kings, so they may be correct.

Re: Lampropeltis getula ?
Personally, I've never seen a Californian Abby that looked anything remotely like that, and wouldn't mind seeing one, either. All the Desert-phase Kings I've seen had a more crisp pattern, that one - if it were an L. g. californiae and I don't believe that it is whatsoever - would certainly be unique among many, I think.

Re: Lampropeltis getula ?
the more I look, the more I think its a mix. There is a lot of natural crossbreeding between the Texas cousins L.g. splendida and L.g. holbrooki. If it was cbb it could be crossed with anything.

Re: Lampropeltis getula ?
Thank you for the replies!
I took some pics yesterday about my snake. He is after shed, so we can see the colors better now. And it seems to be a L. g. floridana to me!
I hope it isn't a mix, or something like this, because I would like to breed him...
