Age Determination

Hi,
I have recently aquired 3 red tail boas that were not being cared for and have come to love them very much. I'm trying to get as much information on them as I can. I have no idea how old they are and that is one of the first things on my list to find out. I have two males, one is 6 feet the other is 7 and one female and she is about 4 feet. Any help would be much appericated on finding out there age, or approx. age.

at that size, its hard to really tell.
it will depend on genetics, how much they were fed, and how well cared for they were before you got them.
Its possible that they could be 2-3 years old, or they could be 5+
all depends on their care and bloodline.

Thanks very much for you help. I really have no idea, I know I rescued them from a not so good owner and got little to no information about them. People keep asking me their age and I just dont know. I would say Diamond the female is very young because she is very little still. The big boys I have no idea. Any helpful information you can pass on would be great..thanks.

Cut them in half...that is funny. Thanks everyone for the help and support. I'm really trying to just give them the best enviroment I can and I can use all the help I can get since I'm new red tail boas. I have had a corn snake and also rescued a ball python. Everyone here seems great..thanks and any direction anyone has for me I would appericate it.

It may also help with telling what locale they are which MIGHT allow us to give a guess at the age... But most likely I'd just pick a birthday you like, lol

I will take a bunch of pictures and upload them, but I dont know how to do much on here..I'm very new. So I dont know how to share them. Can you give me more idea of what you mean my "locale" I got these snakes with little to no information on them except they are red tail boas and two males and one female. My big boy Rex had a upper resp. infection and then rubed his nose raw and it developed into two abscess's. I have to clean it everyday, he is looking much better than when I first got him....

well some boas are common BCI, some are BCC, some are dwarf localities such as nicaraguans, other central americans, hog islands, etc... We can probably tell you what locale they are from pics because each locale has a specific look Different colors, head shapes, etc...

	Boa Constrictor Constrictor Red Tail Boa Constrictor (Boa constictor constrictor). Refers to "true" red tail boas such as the Guyana and Suriname locales.

	Boa Constrictor Imperator Boa Constrictor (Boa constrictor imperator). Most common is the Colombian Boa.
