Another noob Q... Loose stools?
Ok,
She is feeding every seventh day on rat fuzzies and passing stools with almost every rat. Issue is, the stools are a little on the runny side. Since I have had her, she has only had one solid stool. I just called a couple of vets in my area to check to see if anyone knew enough to run a fecal on snakes. To describe their responses... well, just imagine a mule looking at a new gate.
I did talk to a tech in Houston where they work with reptiles. She thought due to the distance I should watch the next few fecal samples and see how it goes.
The snake has always been fed f/t, temps are 80-82 and 88-90, and has 2 hides and a mopani wood log. I did "cook" the wood for about 2 hrs before it went in her cage. The other thing I can think of (assuming the possibility of a neg fecal) is that I give her tap water. Can this really be a concern or are some people just overcautious?
Any thoughts? Should I wait for a couple more samples before taking her?
