female
BCI a little under 2' born 3/13/03, shed 3/21, 6/20, and then tonight 7/25, no problems on the first two sheds with WSacBass who i purchased her from and that is not an issue as i know she treated her great!
But... She was goin through the normal pre-shed process nothing special although she soaked more than i have ever seen any of my snakes soak prior to a shed (hours and hours per day), the temps were all as they should be and humidity the last week has been between 70-80% and then tonight i came home and found part of her shed in the cage, just about 4 inches and it was off the tail. And the rest of her shed was wrapped around her stomach, i thought at first that she had crawled back into her shed but then saw that about 4-5 inches below the shed wrapped around her hadnt shed yet. Closer review showed that the shed from her head down wrapped up so tight that it could not physically pass the thicker portion of her stomach, she had eaten 7 days earlier and defecated the previous day so any bulge from feeding was not visible. So why would this shed wrap so tight and small that it got stuck on her belly. It was actually so VERY tight that i had to soak her a bit to soften it all up, then (thank goodness she is SO calm) i slowly ripped the all ready shed skin little by little to break up the "ring" of skin that was stuck and would not pass, as soon as i go that loose she shed the rest of the way in about 3 seconds no problem at all.
So any ideas as to how that happened. Without my help there is no way that shed would have finished, it was stuck on there VERY tightly. Even after removing the tight shed ring you could see where it had been as im sure her efforts to remove it had made it so tight that she had squished her insides all down furtherand it lumped after that part of her body, after about 10 minutes she was back to normal though.
Hope this all made sense but i can see how some of it may not have. Any more info needed just ask.
