Help with a certain issue !
Hi everyone i'm new to this form also i have had many boas in the past. I
also lived in a very warm state were i didn't have to deal with this issue. I have a pair of Coral Albino Redtails Boas and few other's. My question is i moved from Arizona State to Michigan and the weathers have been pretty crazy here. It is around 65-68 degrees in the day time but the temp is dropping down to the 20's and 30's at night. Back in Arizona i didn't really have to worry about the temps in my closiers for my snakes. But my main question to anyone willing to help me with this is it gets cold at night so it's hard to keep the temps up in the tanks so what i did was buy a infrared heat glo. I never used this product i did some soul searching on the net but no luck really with answers. Is this light safe way to go to keep the temps up for my snakes during cold night's. I was looking for ceramic heat this pet store in the area wont have any in till next week. will this light mess with my snakes day cycle as well as the night cycle please help me with this.

infrared, night "black" and Night "blue" are common bulbs used for night warmth. THeir not supposed to interupt youre snakes usual cycles. you can also try an under tank heater. But those ceramic heat emitters are amazing and i LOVE mine, cant live without it.

Re: Help with a certain issue !
No no, red is fine
Exo Terra : Products : Heat Glo
"The reddish light will not disrupt normal activity during night or day, which makes it an excellent 24 hours heat source"
i dont use an under tank heater because i find my temps are happy with just a Sun Glo on during the day and my ceramic on 24/7
used to use a read Heat Glo but i personally cant sleep with any kind of light but thats me not the snake

Re: Help with a certain issue !
I highly suggest you use a different form of heat.. Bulbs cause all kinds of problems..... Under the tank heating is a great way to heat at a reasonable price..... and a radiant heat panel is probably the best source of heat you can use.....
If you are using a "tank",,, look into some of the cages designed for reptiles.... We all used to use glass tanks back in the day... because there werent all of these greeat products for reptile caging... but nowadays you can get any kind of cage you need.... for great prices too....
I like ABS cages, built by Proline...... a 4 foor wide adult cage only costs about 200 shipped with heat.... the plastic insulates and keeps the heat in... as well as humidity

with bulbs my snake gets night and day, uva uvb, tank - humidity is happy, its easy to clean and the set up looks good too. Not everyone can get fancy cages.
