the good news is susan my bci ate for the fisrt time in two months. The bad news is when I took her out of her feedbox, she was in the process of shedding!!! My question is that I know after they eat they are not supposed to be active or handled for at least 48 hours. Well since she is shedding immediately after she ate is she going to regurg. it ??? I guess there is nothing I can do about it now but let nature take it's course. But I really worried about her , let me know any insight on this.

She should be OK as long as you let her do what she needs to do on her own. If any of the shed is still on her, wait the 48 hours before you attempt to help her with it--it may cause undue stress to do it while she is digesting.

Other than that, everything should be fine. And like Boaman said, be thankful that she ate during shed--mine won't eat either during shed--you have a healthy snake there, titums.

Heh....depends on the snake. I have snakes that will eat while in the deepest of blue and others that won't eat a week before they even start to go in blue. I had a copperhead going through a bad shed the other night and was soaking him while feeding other snakes. He kept eyeballing me when I walked by with food so I fed him a mouse while he was soaking in a soak tub!!! So...like I said, it just depends on the snake.

I have an 11 ft burmese who will eat anything, anytime. I believe if I scented an old nasty shoe with her food, she would eat it. I fed her one night, after she went out of blue and before she shed, and as soon as I returned her to the cage, she had an almost perfect shed. I wouldn't necessarily think she'll regurge, as long as you only handled her to replace her in her enclosure. Shedding is natural for snakes, handling is not. As you handle a snake, the snake moves around your hands and puts pressure on the belly, where the food is, which is what can cause the regurge. in shedding, it's just a natural thing the snake does. I wouldn't be too worried about a regurge, I think she'll be fine. Good Luck!
