Hi! I just got a new boa. She is around 8 feet long. The person I got her from simply told me that she was a redtail boa. I know that there are different types of snakes called the "redtail". Someone told me they don't think it is ANY kind of redtail. Someone else told me it was. I need help finding out what she is, and what she isn't. Thanks!
I am going to try posting pics of her here, I hope this works
I appreciate any help given on this.

Welcome to the forum. Just in case you were wondering BCI is a Redtail and so is a BCC. She is a pretty boa Kyle. Very dark and sweet I see. Good luck with her and you have come to the right place. Stick around and you will learn so much from all of these wonderful Herpers. Blueeheeler

Thanks for the help all! Very quick too.
Seems like it will be hard to be sure if she is
a BCI or a BCC, but these ARE both red tails?
BCI is the Boa Constrictor Imperator
and BCC is a Boa Constrictor Constrictor correct?
What are those common names? Is BCI the True Red Tail?
What is the common for the BCC?
Thanks again very much!
~Kyle

i would say bci, locale unknown.
i have a large female collected from colombia, around baranquilla, and she looks like that.
boas from the north start off gray or kinda yellowy and as they grow and age they get that yellowy brown color (few stay gray or silver)
nut i have also seen some CA collected boas that look similar.
the only way to be sure though is to know where it came from! sorry to say but that is the only way.
she is also not a redtail, so dont bother to call her that.
for further info on wild type boas and to see some pics how they look phenotypically go check out www.boa-constrictors.com
hermann is great and has acurate representations of locality specific animals.
either way, you got yourself a big beauty! congrats!

OK I read those a little wrong. Most of you said BCI, which I assume is Boa Constrictor Imperator? I looked that up. That is the common boa? Is that a Colombian? Also is that a redtail, and what would the full common name be for her?
Sorry for all the questions, I just want to be clear on what my girl is exactly.
