What does RI mean also whats the diff. between BCC & BCI

	Boa Constrictor Constrictor Red Tail Boa Constrictor (Boa constictor constrictor). Refers to "true" red tail boas such as the Guyana and Suriname locales.

	Boa Constrictor Imperator Boa Constrictor (Boa constrictor imperator). Most common is the Colombian Boa.

BCC = Boa constrictor constrictor (boas originating from east of the Andes/Amazon Basin, generally speaking)
BCI = Boa constrictor imperator (boas originating from west of the Andes, into Central and North America)

RI = typically means respiratory infection
(or Rabid Iguana, if you got a male feeling amorous! j/k!)

An "RI" is a respiratory infection.
As for telling the difference between a BCC and a BCI, it can be pretty tough. It all comes down to scale count, size, etc.....
If you have a boa that you are unsure of you can post a pic here and someone is sure to help.

hi,
ANd welcome, here's a web page in Germany dedicated to descibing the origins of many boa's
after buying my first boa I wanted to read everything about the origins of the species and traits.
I ve noticed most books are very weak in actual resarch and can have incorrect information.
Herman S. is a little over the end about breeding though.. hehe
