My snake has a bad shedding problem, when she shed it's comes off in chunks and dried layers on her head and tail, and over her eyes. I rubbed baby oil over her and that seems to help but not that much. is there anything else that i can do to fix my snake? If the humidity is increased in the cage will the snake have better sheds from now on or will all her sheds from now on be bad?

Okay, lack of humidity can definitely cause bad sheds. Secondly, we can't help you if you don't tell us what kind of snake it is. Increasing the humidity, and misting regularly while the snake is in blue will usually take care of the shedding problem. If anything is left behind, it can usually be removed pretty easily.

Yep humidity
As soon as I see clouding in the eyes I mist my Bedtail boa once to twice a day.
She gets happy and active right after I spray. I bet it feels like home to her.

Bedtail boa? Does it have a tail shaped like a mattress?

It's a columbian redtial boa. So misting the cage when I see her eyes get cloudy will solve my problem? What are other ways that I can increase the humidity of the tank that I have. Basicly just a big wood box with a glass front and a vented top with a light. I will post pictures whe I get them. Thanks for all the replies!

Could offer a humidity box. Basically a rubbermaid container turned upside down with A hole cut in the side. put in a bunch of moss, i believe its called sphagnum moss. I have no idea of spelling. I'm sure someone will come along and correct me.
Misting Daily is fine and will help out an aweful lot. Also you can cover the top vents with damp towels to hold in humidity.
Is the water bowl large enough for the snake to completely soak in? A Larger water bowl can also increase the humidity.

What's the average humidity in the enclosure? Humidity is one of the biggest factors of bad sheds. What type of hygrometer are you using? Those dials that you can buy really are not accurate. If you don't already have a digital one, I would recommend one. They work great and are pretty accurate and cheap. There is many solutions to increasing the humidity in an enclosure. Using a substrate that does not mold such as cypress mulch works great. Misting daily will also help. During the shedding process, daily soaks will also help. This is also the time to increase the humidity around 10%.

I want to thank everybody for helping me out. I have used all of your sugestion and there seems to already be a differnece. Her eyes are cloudy now so I am hopeful to see if the shed will come off in one full piece the way it's suppose to. I do not have a humidity gage but will be getting one soon. I wll post pics when I can.

Hi use a magical elixor called Shed Ease. This spary is awesome. I use it every shed to help with the shedding process, as well as proper humidity levels. There are many types of Shed aides out there so give one a try. I never had an issue with Shed Ease since I started using it. I spray the snake daily as well as misting, and its been great so far for me.

Shed ease is basically mineral spirits. Not bad, but if the husbandry is correct it really isn't necessary. I used it once. After that just raised the humidity up around shed time, and never had to use it again.

I have never used Shed Ease.... but have heard it is basically "snake oil". Under most circumstances that I have seen a snake will shed just fine if your husbandry is correct.
