Well, snakes don't "hear" but they feel vibrations. As for a flash, I have never had a problem, but I don't think anyone has ever done any research.

I notice some recoil from snakes when a flash is triggered in front of them, but I have seen snakes that dont even flinch.
Im sure it varies from snake to snake, as far as loud noise, if your talking about musical instruments, I used to keep my guitar set up in my snake room (its a mesa boogie tri-rec with 2 4x12 cabs, its very very very loud) and the snakes would always start moving around like they were freaked out, so I stopped playing the guitar in that room, and now the snakes dont exhibit that behavior anymore.
and yes, I know snakes cant hear......

Flashes should not hurt but dont put it in front of them and flash just to find out. I have heard that bright lights could blind some reptiles like chameleons, but I have not heard this about snakes of any type.

Hello,
I tend to over investugate things. I just got 2 BP's and have spent a lot of time learning as much as I can.
I would be very carefull with flashes too close to the snake. A lot are nocturnal, so they may be sensitive to the light. Especally if it is dark when you 'flash'. Just as with yourself, can be rough if dark and they 'look' straight at a flash.
Just don't 'flash' the snake in public! May get arrested! Just kidding.
Chuck

Well, what about lightning flashes in the wild? Last time I checked, they were far brighter than many flash bulbs. They often happen repeatedly, and without warning as well. It doesn't seem to have affected the vision of any wild snakes I've seen.

I've never had any bad reactions from snakes when using flash, but who could really say for sure medically? I wouldn't worry about it.
Man, there are 6 posts on this and yet NOBODY commented about the snake molestation from the original post yet?!? HAHAHEhehe...AHHhh... hehe -Juggalo
