I am very pleased to hear that you want information on a snake BEFORE you get it, rather than after you already bought it!! RTB are amazing snakes that will captivate your eyes for hours, and their "tame" nature usually makes them very good "pets". They are generally very good eaters and live happily as long as all requirements are met. I have one of my own and I'm planning to get a second one this summer. However, there's a dowside to RTBs. They get big! We're not talking about retic python big, but big enough where two people might be neccessary to handle the animal once it reaches 7 or 8 feet. Better safe than sorry! Also, there's another factor to consider: is your friend willing to clean up poop the size of a guinea pig? Is she willing to kill rabbits or chickens in order to feed the sanke? Does she have the money to support a large animal like a RTB? It might be feeding on mice now but what about 4 years from now? And the last thing, RTB is a companion for life and they live a mighty long time, will she have the space and the time to care for such an animal? If the answer is yes to all the questions, tell her to go get her first baby and enjoy a life long partner, if not, she's better off sticking to something smaller like a rainbow boa. And one more thing, tell her to make sure she buys captive bred specimen from a respectable breeder, otherwise she might run into a long list of vet bills!!! Good luck!!!
