OK, I was told it is probably a rub sore on my rtb head. On one forum I was told to check to see if it looked like the same thing. I went there and someone had posted to check in their mouth to see if there was any swelling or cottage cheese looking stuff. How do you get them open their mouth without getting bit? I don't mean to sound stupid, but I don't want to get bit either. I have a vet appt. scheduled for tomorrow. Should I keep it or try to get it to heal first?
Thanks

Well, if you have a vet visit tomorrow, let them do it.
Sometimes your efforts to look in the mouth can make a small cut that can lead to mouth rot. So if you are already going to the vet, let them do it.

I agree with Jim. While there is several things you could use to open your snake's mouth, I would let the vet check him out.

Make sure that your vet actually knows reptiles too. AND while your at the visit.. have the vet show you how to open the snake's mouth. Hands on instruction is the best way to go about learning that sort of thing

ok, I cancelled the vet appoint because I found out that it was probably a sore from rubbing it's snout. So, I am going to try treating it with antibiotic ointment first. Well, that is all I have to say for now.
Thanks Tonya

I just took my snake to the vet for RI, he taught me a lot about first aid care for snakes. He used one of those sticks that doctors use us to check down our throats...what are they, gag sticks?? make you gag....He said you can use something smooth and round like a pen. Of course not the ink part, just what you hold on too. It works with ease, just grab behind head, and roll it back. Depending on size of snake, will depend the difficulty.....if the sore is outside the head....I don't know why people would tell you to check the mouth.....
