Hi everyone. I just found this site, it looks really cool.
I just bought my son a Suriname boa. I have had various pythons over the years, including "Monty" (yeah, I know, REAL original!) a Reticulated who I raised from a hatchling to a 14' adult.
My son and I are true conservationist, I try to teach everyone I know about reptiles, snakes in particular, to help educate them and encourage them to respect, not kill snakes.
Anyway, I was just wondering if anyone has some basic advice concerning boas in general, this is our first boa. Things that might be specific to boas, where my experience with pythons would not cross-reference. I am particularly interested in habitat and housing, and would eventually like to construct a custom habitat for our new friend.

Thanks in advance for any advice, and please point me to the correct Forums if this topic is more appropriate elsewhere!

Hi bajaman,

I also have a lot of care sheets on my website that should help you out.
Just click on the banner below.
On my home page just click on the care sheets page. If you need any other info just
post here on RTB or e-mail me and I will try and help you out.

Take care
Tom

Hi there;

WELCOME TO REDTAILBOA.NET !!!

Basically the husbandry is the same. I keep my pythons at a slightly higher humidity than my boas though. For the suri I go with 55-60% humidity and don't have any problems from that.
