Old shed stuck on head underneath

My male BRB just shed for the first time for me this morning. I got him from Jeff Clark back in Sept. He had shed once before Jeff shipped him to me. Anyways part of his shed is stuck under his head I know this cant be good if he doesnt get it off so I was wondering if I can do anything to help him out. Now my temps are good and the humidity is too. He shares a 10 gallon enclosure with a female from the same clutch and she just shed tonight with no problems. The only differance between the two is he has been eating like a pig leading up to the shed and i had to almost force her to eat after 3 weeks of being picky. I will include a few pics I appriciate any help.

Re: Old shed stuck on head underneath

Cute snakey. You can try getting a warm damp washcloth and wrapping it around his head and trying to steam it loose and pull it off. If it won't come off, it's very likely to come off with the next shed. Just make sure the humidity is good.

Re: Old shed stuck on head underneath

you can try a tuperware container about 1/3-1/2 full of water for a few mins. and then just give it a nice gentle rub. it will eventually come off but if itll come easy theres no harm in helping it along. just dont force it or yank on it and it will be fine.

***i love those things btw, you have a beautiful animal there***

Re: Old shed stuck on head underneath

We are good now just woke up this morning and he was at the warm end of his enclosure, and the rest of his shed was lying next to the water dish. I guess I just paniced too soon thank everyone for your advice.

Re: Old shed stuck on head underneath

Make a humidity/shed box for him. I use a long/short tupperware container(pick one that will be nice and cozy for him to curl up in but not too small) and cut a hole in the top w/ some scissors. I use moss and mist it once a day. Change the moss every few weeks. My bp absolutly loves hers. She will pretty much stay in it all the time so I take it out for a while so she can get her exercise. If you dont have much room, put it under the water bowl.
Here's mine:

Hope this helps!

Re: Old shed stuck on head underneath

Glad he is OK now. Is he bigger than the female you are housing him with, due to eating much more than her? If he is eating like a pig, and she is not and is smaller than him, I would definitely say it's time to separate them!

These little BRBs are the cutest things....

Re: Old shed stuck on head underneath

the size isnt much difference not enough to cause problems yet. They both ate the same amount before they were shipped to me but since I have had them she has eaten once and he ate 3 times. They have both been in shed for the last week so I didnt even offer a meal. Now that they both shed I will try again and we shall see what happens.

Re: Old shed stuck on head underneath

Veronica had some stuck pieces on her head after her last shed. It was right near her eyes and down to her snout. I rubbed a warm wet washcloth over her head and then just peeled the pieces off with my fingers. I was amazed that she just sat there and let me do it.
