Re: Red Tail Help
Stargazer, I have given him two baths and no results. The first one he did poop alittle about the second nothing.
Florida, my problem is that he is not pooping. Hes eating fine. In his cage he seems as mellow as he ever was.
This is a great site and quick answers. I think I will take him to the vet after he sheds. I just looked at him and his eyes are capped. thanks for the comments and this site is now in my favorites. Any more comments will be helpful to.

Re: Red Tail Help
yotaboy....sometimes they have to soak in a tote for a whole day and that works great. dont make the water so deep that he has to swim and if you can put the tote part way on a human heat pad on low or medium to keep the water room temp.

Re: Red Tail Help
What are you using to measure temps? As in what kind of thermometer? It's generally not a good idea to guess at temps. Like everyone else said, if he's not pooping then a vet visit is probably a good idea.
BTW, no one's mentioned it yet but we love pics.

Re: Red Tail Help
We've had threads like this before where a snake has not pooped for 4 or 5 weeks, then lets loose with a monster poop. I don't think that part is a huge problem. I think having a fecal done (with whatever poop you get from him) and possibly upping the size of his meals may help. You also need to see to the eye caps, as they can cause a potential problem. The vet may be able to help you with that. I would not recommend trying to remove retained eye caps unless you know what you're doing. Keep us posted.

Re: Red Tail Help
Wow! Yall are quick! Hes eyes are capped because he is about to go through a shed. I make it a point not to mess with him while hes shedding.
I have two stick on thermometers, one at the top one at the bottom. The top one reads 80-85 and The bottom stays at 80. I keep the light over the water bowl to keep up himidity. I turn it off at night , is that wrong? I do have a heating pad on the bottom.
